The Rosonerri legend was relieved of his duties, a year into his contract, having finished 10th in the table with the Serie A giants.

Only a year has passed since Filippo Inzaghi was appointed AC Milan manager, and healready finds himself out of the job.

On Tuesday, the Italian giants confirmed the sacking of the 41-year-old after leading the team to a 10th place finish.

Taking over the helms at San Siro from former team-mate Clarence Seedorf, Inzaghi was unable to secure European football for the Rosonerri, racking up a mere 52 points.

The club did, however, show appreciation towards the club legend for his efforts at Milan, expressing gratitude towards the Italian in an official statement via their website, saying:

"AC Milan announces that it has sacked the coach of the first-team squad, Filippo Inzaghi, who has been thanked for the work done."

Speculation surrounding Inzaghi’s future at AC Milan has been circulating for weeks, with reports heavily tipping the former striker to be fired.

Owner Silvio Berlusconi, as reported by many outlets, was eager to call back former manager Carlo Ancelotti after it was revealed he would be leaving Real Madrid, having previously enjoyed tremendous success under the 56-year-old’s reign.

However, the former Chelsea and PSG boss decided on taking a year-long break from coaching in order to undergo back surgery.

Inzaghi will now be replaced by former Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, who led the Blucerchiati to an impressive seventh-place finish.
