Earlier today, the world of football was shaken to its very foundation when seven top-ranked officers were arrested by FBI officers in a hotel raid in Zurich. Charges of racketeering, corruption and bribery over the 2018 and 2022 World Cup elections were pinned on them, along with other charges. The ongoing investigation saw FBI agents enter CONCACAF's offices in Miami and carry out more evidence of corruption concerning tournaments held in that region.
While the investigation is only reaching CONCACAF and CONMEBOL execs, former UEFA boss Lennart Johannson stated he was by no means surprised by this events. Nevertheless, he doesn't expect Sepp Blatter to be indicted, and he even stated FIFA's current president will keep ruling football.
"This is serious business. Everybody wants to know more, what has happened, who is guilty? I'm glad that the bad guys get caught. People who have broken the law. "
"He's too cunning to put himself in such a situation. I don't think it will happen, that he would suddenly be exposed as a serious criminal," Johannson said about Blatter.
Added to his reaction, a spokesman for Luis Figo's presidential campaign revealed that the former Portuguese superstar would not change his mind about contending for FIFA's top seat. Figo declined last Thursday since he felt the proceeding "was not a legal election."
A subject such as this generated lots of opinions fom former football players, sports journalists and the general public. Have a look at what the world said about FIFA's corruption being exposed by the FBI.

There can't be a more corrupt, deplorable organisation on earth than FIFA. The house of cards is falling. Time for change!

The problem is not that 'Blatter controls everything'; it's rather that he can't, and doesn't. Result: a free-for-all, a kleptocracy.

I suggest chucking the corrupt @FIFAcom staff in a Russian or Qatari prison considering they are obviously fans! #FIFAarrests #Justice

Dear America, Send Sepp Blatter to prison and we'll officially stop making fun of you for calling it soccer. Yours sincerely, The World
