The two Spanish giants have never met in a Champions League final. Real Madrid is aiming to be the first back to back UCL champion in the modern era.

There have been 230 editions of El Clasico, but none of them have decided who wins a UEFA Champions League title. This time, there is a chance that the top two teams in La Liga make it all the way to Berlin and face off in a European final for the first time since the tournament was established in 1955.

It's impossible to disrespect Bayern Munich and Juventus having made it this far into the competition. They are both the current champions of their respective leagues and both know what it is like to win Europe's finest club competition. Unfortunately for them, there are strong reasons that give an edge to Barcelona and Madrid.

1) UEFA Club Rankings (Overall)

Taking into consideration the performances by all of the UEFA clubs  in the last five seasons, it is Real Madrid and Barcelona who lead the race in Europe. Madrid leads the rankings with 167.228 points and Los Cules follow with 156.228. Bayern Munich finds itself in third place with 149.711, while Juventus is outside the top-10 in 15th with 88.535.

2) UEFA Club Rankings (Current Season)

The governing body of European football just released its mots up-to-date rankings after the quarter-finals were over. Here, the Spanish teams still lead the race but in a different order. Since Barcelona has not really struggled to make it into semi-final stage, they are the ones on top in this classification. They currently have 29.271 points is what has Barcelona in the lead, then Real Madrid follows them with 28.271. Juventus is doing much better in this ranking, placed in fourth with 26.233 and Bayern Munich in fifth with 26.000.

3) Top Scorers

Barcelona has Lionel Messi and Real Madrid has Cristiano Ronaldo. The two players are considered the best ones in the business and their ability to score is like no other. Messi is the top scorer in the competition with 71 and Ronaldo has the most goals in one season with 16. This year Luiz Adriano from Shaktar Donetsk is in the lead with nine goals, followed by the two superstars with eight. They did not score in the quarter-finals but they can come back to life when it matters most.

4) Most Wins

After ten games, the two teams with the most wins are from Spain. Barcelona has won nine games this year while Real Madrid follows them with eight. Their loss against Schalke 04 at the Bernabeu stopped the perfect season they had up to that quarter-final game. In order to make it this far, Bayern has won seven games and Juventus is down with six.

5) Head to Head

Real Madrid has a very slight advantage when it comes to facing Juventus. They have played each other 16 times and Madrid hold an 8-1-7 record. Los Merengues would like to hold on to that and also knowing that they were the last ones to win a game between the two (2-1), in October of 2013.

Bayern does have an edge on Barcelona (5-2-1) but Los Cules usually do well against German teams. In the history of Los Cules, they have played against German teams 53 times. 29 of them have ended up favoring Luis Enrique's team and five of their 13 losses have been against the Bavarian squad.

Berlin awaits

For any of the four teams remaining, there are only 180 minutes of football left before they can make it to Berlin. The German capital is waiting for the 2014-2015 UEFA Champions League finalists and there is a strong chance we may see a UCL Final that has never been played before.
