The proposal is currently being analyzed by UEFA and is most likely to be approved. Scheduling may be the biggest obstacle for it to happen.

Not too long ago, former Real Madrid legend Ronaldo claimed that he would like to have Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi playing for his team. Having both football stars wearing the same jersey may happen sooner than expected.

UEFA is currently attempting to schedule an All-Star match with the best players in European clubs. The players would be split into “Team South” and “Team North”, with both CR7 and Messi playing for the southern squad.

According to Mundo Deportivo, a Spanish newspaper, a marketing company has already submitted the proposal for this special fixture to the governing body of European competitions (UEFA). The idea is to simulate the NBA All-Star game in the United States between the Eastern and Western Conferences.

Fans would be the ones to vote for which players they want on each team. The only limit is that a club can’t have more than three of its players chosen for this game. Teams from Spain, Italy, France and a few others would represent the south and sides from Germany and England would lead the northern team.

This is an idea of how the teams would look like:

South: Buffon; Danilo, Sergio Ramos, Pique, Thiago Silva; Messi, Pogba, Koke, Neymar; Cristiano Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic

North: Neuer; Terry, Hummels, Alaba; Robben, Di Maria, Silva, Reus; Alexis, Aguero, Hazard

On the business side, this is a great idea. Who would not pay a ticket to see this much talent on one field? It would be a win-win for UEFA and any company involved in organizing and sponsoring the game.

The downside would be the scheduling. With so many tournaments being played around Europe, plus international duties for most of these players, it may be hard to find a good date for this game. Clubs would not like their chosen players to get injured in a marketing stunt.
