It is just his second goal with Barcelona. Celta scored in the first half but the goal was disallowed.

Jeremy Matthieu's second goal with Barcelona may have been even more important than his very first goal at El Clasico, a couple of weeks ago. This one gave Barcelona the win in a very close game against a Celta Vigo. A team that had beaten them before and which threatened to break their winning record.

Los Cules now have an eight-game winning streak, which began after their loss against Malaga at home on February 15. It was a close call on this one as Celta was stopping every chance Barcelona created.

Celta was very dangerous in the first half. First Nolito tried to get past Claudio Bravo, but the goalkeeper went in with his feet first and it is unclear if he touched the ball or the player first. Gerard Pique had a rough time with Charles, who seemed to run away with the ball, but a close-to-call slide almost resulted in a penalty kick.

Early in the second half Neymar also had a clear chance that was disallowed for an offside as well.

With less than 20 minutes to go, Barcelona got awarded a free kick from the left side of the field. Xavi was the one in charge of shooting it, and he set it for Matthieu to use his head and send the ball to the back of the net.

His goal gave Barcelona an absolute control of the game in the final minutes. Celta’s Fabian Ornella lost his head was the game approached its end and threw a piece of turf to Sergio Busquets’ head, so the referee sent him off early.

Nothing changed in the final minutes, and Barcelona keeps its four-point advantage over Real Madrid, who earlier on Sunday won 9-1 against Granada. Time will tell if Matthieu’s header may have just won La Liga for Barcelona.
