Lionel Messi is making headlines even when he doesn’t play. After missing both international friendlies with Argentina against El Salvador and Ecuador, he will most likely miss Barcelona’s next game against Celta Vigo.

Reports from Spanish newspapers claim that it was at some point in the game between Barcelona and Manchester City when he suffered the injury. The reports can’t specify what caused the injury and when it happened. Apparently Messi played with the pain during El Clasico a few days later.
When he arrived in the United States, Messi was taken to a private clinic in Washington D.C. to examine his situation. It was later determined that he would stay with the team, but no word on if he was going to play.

Messi still has until Sunday to try and recover from his injury. Sources close to the 27-year-old striker claim it will be almost impossible to see him in action.
