Portugal's coach Fernando Santos thought the match against Cape Verde would be too easy for them to handle, but their visitors were thinking about making the most of this friendly game, shocking their hosts after a very disappointing performance by Santos' men.
Cape Verde started strong with Julio Tavares' shot, which was deflected by debutant keeper Anthony Lopes. As minutes went by, it seemed like Portugal's victory was a certainty, since their visitors showed some innocence while attacking the Portuguese. But everything changed after Odair Fortes' right footed cross, which somehow ended up in the back of the hosts' net.
Minutes later, Gege's goal confirmed this was one night to remember for the visiting side, and any chance of a Portuguese revival was blasted away after Andre Pinto was sent off.
Fans, experts and trolls had a field day after Portugal's defeat against the African team, which provided Santos' men with their first loss while facing an African side since 1986. Scroll down and read what fans are saying about this shocking loss!
