With one of the biggest games of the season coming up, most of its main characters have things to say about their opponents. What were the big topics of discussion for this game?

El Clasico always gives fans and reporters topics to talk about prior to the game's development. In the buildup for this match, several things were said by players and coaches of each team, raising controversy but also displaying acts of respect for one and other. After Jose Mourinho's departure from Real Madrid, the level of intensity surrounding this match has slowed a bit down, but that doesn't mean that there were not things to talk about in one of the most anticipated weeks of the season. Here are some of the best quotes most of the main characters said regarding this match!

The coaches: Luis Enrique denies the winner will end up bagging La Liga, while Ancelotti praises those who recovered from injuries

Barcelona's coach referred to his team's better shape prior to this Sunday's Clasico, but he does not believe this match will end up being decisive to determine which team wins La Liga this season.

"It’s an important game but not a decisive one. There are still ten very difficult games ahead of us, but games with Madrid are certainly different to any others," Barça's manager stated.

On the other hand, Carlo Ancelotti has no doubts his players will give everything they've got to reclaim La Liga's top spot, praising some of his players that became available after recovering from their injuries.

"I see my team way better than before. But mostly, we are happy to have Ramos and Modric back. They will help us very much to accomplish what we want. If we want to win tomorrow, we will have to do it using our head, not our muscle," the Italian revealed.

The players: Messi doesn't boast over big personal moment, while Benzema believes in their chances

Billed as the best player in the world by most, Lionel Messi referred earlier this week to their matchup against Los Blancos. The Argentinian seemed confident about winning the game, but he acknowledges the difficulty of the task at hand.

"We can't be too confident. Real Madrid is more dangerous now, because they can gather all that frustration and give a great performance against us. They have players that can switch the game's outcome in no time," Messi said.

Karim Benzema, one of Real Madrid's star strikers, referred to the team's recent glory against Los Blaugranas to motivate his side, while he defended the BBC attack of being highly implicated in the team's all-around efforts.

"We believe we can repeat what we did in the first track of the season. We only need a bit of luck to do so. The BBC is always there, maybe there are some matches where we can't score, but we are always working to help the team," the French striker stated.
