With the Portuguese ace struggling with form, here is why the Real Madrid star will silence his critics in El Clasico.

It’s not a secret that Cristiano Ronaldo is under-performing for Real Madrid. After starting the season brilliantly, going on a goalscoring rampage on his way to his third Ballon d’Or title, the Portuguese ace was undoubtedly the most in-form player in football.

Come 2015, however, and the 30-year-old has not been able to emulate the form that earned him the title of 2014 best player in the world. He has undergone a public breakup with Irina Shayk, received a two-match ban in La Liga, and had a run-in with a section of the Blancos faithful.

But on Sunday, when Les Merengues travel to Camp Nou for football’s favorite club matchup, El Clasico, expect Ronaldo to get his groove back and silence the critics.

Despite his current slump, the former Manchester United winger has 30 goals to his name in Liga BBVA, only two less than La Pulga’s tally of 32 goals.

Furthermore, Cristiano has a tendency of finding the back of the net at Barcelona’s home ground. Having already scored past Claudio Bravo in El Clasico, in the 3-1 win at Santiago Bernabeu, Ronaldo boasts a better stats at Camp Nou that Lionel Messi himself.

Since 2009, the Sporting Lisbon product scored eight goals against the Catalan giants, compared to Messi’s five.

Ronaldo has scored two goals in the last two meetings between Barcelona and Real Madrid, albeit one was from a penalty. He has also managed 14 goals in 22 El Clasico ties, adding up to a 1.6 goal-per-game ratio.

Ronaldo has never been one to shy from a challenge, or disappoint in the big games, so come Sunday, the world could get a glimpse of the Cristiano of old.
