Manchester City may have said good-bye to their silverware hopes this season. Manuel Pellegrini's men were not able to break into Burnley's defense, giving away three points after George Boyd's massive volley just outside of the Citizens' box. With this result, Pellegrini's crew could end the week eight points behind Premier League leader Chelsea.
The Sky Blues dominated most of the game, with Burnley attacking Manchester City's well-placed defense with fast breaks led by Danny Ings. David Silva was denied the go ahead goal after Tom Heaton's amazing cutoff prior to Boyd's perfect left-foot strike that found its way into Joe Hart's net. The Citizens tried, but Aguero & Co. were not able to outperform Burnley's last line.
Of course, fans and experts had a field day talking about the Citizens' latest failure. Scroll down to read some of them!
1 - George Boyd is the first player to score in two league games against Manchester City this season. Scourge.
