The runner up for the 2013 award thinks it's not worthy going to a ceremony where the third nominee 'has no chance of winning'

French midfielder Franck Ribery stated today that any player nominated for FIFA's Ballon D'Or should consider not attending the gala if Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi are candidates to win the award, since they have almost no chance of winning if they are present.

"As long as Ronaldo and Messi are playing, the third nominee has to be smart enough to know he has no chance of winning. We should even consider if it's worth our time going to the gala. What for, just to appear in the picture? That's just politics for me," Ribery stated.

The former Olympique Marseille player also stated he doubts the Ballon D'Or takes into consideration any accomplishments, defending his team-mate Manuel Neuer, who won everything with Bayern and the German National Team, but was snubbed to favor CR7 with this year's trophy.

"It's the same story every year. I don't know what you have to do to win. Even winning the World Cup is not enough! Neuer has been the best goalkeeper in the world for the past two or three years, he's won everything with Bayern, he won the World Cup and he was the best 'keeper in Brazil. But I just don't get it, it seems it's never going to be enough," the Frenchman concluded.
