The Brazilian executive assured the player wants to leave the club, adding they will promote one of their young players to occupy his place.

Since Real Madrid have apparently agreed to transfer Asier Illarramendi to Athletic Bilbao, Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva is set to join Los Blancos on a six and a half year agreement. According to Cruzeiro's VP, Marcio Rodrigues, the player should be unveiled shortly as the new signing for the European champions.

"Lucas Silva's signing with Real Madrid is closed. He should be revealed as Real Madrid's new midfielder tomorrow. His transfer comes in a time where the player want to leave and we will not try to hold him back. We will surely promote one of our younger players to replace him, some of them are begging for that opportunity," the exec stated.

Sources indicate Silva's transfer was stopped by coach Carlo Ancelotti, but the possible departure of Illarra to Athletic and Luka Modric's injury speeded things up among both clubs. Cruzeiro will be paid 12 million euros for the player's transfer. The 21-year-old midfielder will be unveiled in such style as Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.
