The Blues boss was enraged following his side's 5-3 New Years' Day loss to Tottenham and launched a vicious personal attack on referee Phil Dowd.

Just 11 days ago, league leaders Chelsea were shocked as they ended up on the losing end of an eight goal thriller versus London rivals Tottenham.

The five goals conceded were the most that the Blues had done so far all season and predictably, Jose Mourinho was not impressed one bit.

However, as has been seen already so far this campaign, a target of the Portuguese tactician's ire was the referees, with Phil Dowd being singled out for some pretty nasty criticism.

"You’re too fat to referee, you should retire!" he apparently ranted at Dowd much to the shock of many witnesses.

Too hefty? Dowd's fitness has been questioned several times in the past and apparently even failed a test back in May 2012

While the report later goes on to claim that he did apologise, this is not the first time that Dowd's weight has been an issue.

Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson is another who has questioned his fitness levels, back in April 2013 during a 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Mourinho has already landed himself in trouble with angry comments made following Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Southampton on December 28th of last year. In this case, however, his apology must have been accepted as there was no notes of the verbal attack in Dowd's post-match report.
