Reports indicate the German sponsor would fund Chelsea's bid to get the Argentinian player to the Premier League leaders next year.

Following praises by his former Barcelona team-mate Cesc Fabregas, rumors indicate Lionel Messi would be considering a move from his only professional club to play in the English Premier League. Apparently, Messi entered into a cash dispute with Los Blaugranas, which would have made him consider switching sides next summer.

Fueling up rumors about a possible switch, Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported in 2013 that German company Adidas could be willing to fund such a bid, since Messi is sponsored by the three-stripe enterprise. Furthermore, the firm's executives may not be as happy as they could be, given Messi's antics on the pitch have taken place wearing Barcelona's Nike outfit. So, business-wise, the German company could be behind this plot.

Messi has been rumored to be unhappy with Barcelona for quite some time now, despite having signed a new contract before this season started. Back in November, Messi stated he could not guarantee he would play forever with Los Culés, and if needed, he would reconsider a change if "things did not change their course."
