Despite just arriving on loan, the Spanish striker could be returning to England as early as this January.

Since making a move from Liverpool to Chelsea in a then-record setting deal back in 2011, Fernando Torres has seen his career take a nosedive.

Once viewed as one of the most lethal attackers in the game, the Spanish international quickly became the subject of jokes from opposing fans and a source of much frustration for Blues supporters due to his sudden inability to find the back of the net.

A switch, then to Milan this summer on a two-year loan deal was supposed to be a win-win situation for both sides. For the struggling Rossoneri, they were desperate to make a "big signing" after shipping out Mario Balotelli and having lost stars Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to PSG in the summer of 2012. And for "El Nino", it represented an opportunity to revive his struggling form without the pressure of the English media breathing down his neck.

Well, unfortunately, so far, he has shown Diavolo fans exactly why they doubted the merit of his signing and why Chelsea were so keen on shipping him out. One goal in 10 Serie A appearances--in a 2-2 draw with Empoli--is all he has to show so far since joining the San Siro side.  Moreover, that Milan are seeking to turn their fortunes around, coupled with the good form of former PSG man Jeremy Menez, reports are rife that Pippo Inzaghi has already grown frustrated with Torres' lack of goals and is preparing to send him right back to London.

Of course, given that Jose Mourinho has already brought in Diego Costa, Loic Remy, and veteran Didier Drogba, there is clearly no room for Torres in the squad and should he leave Italy, he certainly will be farmed out elsewhere on loan.

The question is, though, who will be willing to consider taking a risk? And more important, will he ever re-discover that hot streak while at Atletico Madrid and Liverpool that warranted the huge fee Chelsea paid for him?
