The Dutch legend believes the award has lost its value ever since FIFA took control of the election process.

Former Barcelona coach and legend Johan Cruyff blasted the media and those who elect the Ballon D'Or, since he believes the award lost its purpose years ago. After winning the trophy in 1971, 1973 and 1974, the Dutch manager stated today the award has become a charade and that it serves FIFA's purposes, whatever they are.

"I'm not interested in who will win. It's just a montage by the media. What are the values it stands for? What is really the point? Are you rewarding the best player of the season or the best player in the world? Everyone that casts their vote tries to benefit someone they know, and sometimes you wonder is it really worth it to be so worried about it. I don't care who they give it to. Since FIFA took over the election process, the award lost its credibility," Cruyff stated.

Asked about Barcelona's current season, the Dutch legend wonders how a player like Douglas was signed by Los Blaugranas, since his current form hasn't amazed him. Furthermore, he refused to judge the "MSN" attack, since they have not played together that much to make a reasonable judgement.

"I don't know if they signed Douglas after watching a video. I can't explain it. Sometimes there are some decisions that are hard to believe, such as this one. As for the strikers, it's still too soon. You have to wait and see how they get along, but just to be clear, there is a reason why they say you should not put two roosters in a hen house," Cruyff ironically answered.
