The Spanish defender is uncomfortable with Platini's words regarding who would be a fair winner of the award, since CR7's season was 'outstanding'.

Spanish defender Alvaro Arbeloa voiced his opinion about this year's Ballon D'Or voting, where his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the top billed candidates to win the award. Arbeloa took the chance to complain about Michel Platini's statements earlier this week, in which he stated a German player should win the trophy instead of the Portuguese superstar.

"I think it's a pity for those who organize the Ballon D'Or voting, because this year there can be no debate at all. By far, Cristiano Ronaldo has been the best player, and I can't understand the nerve Michel Platini has to go on about who should be a fair winner. He should win and that's that," Arbeloa said.

Asked about Real Madrid's current shape with Carlo Ancelotti, Arbeloa told the press that the team's need to be challenged has been the fuel for their latest success, including last season's UEFA Champions League trophy.

"This version of Real Madrid loves to be challenged, we always want more. When we won La Decima, we were thinking about how we were going to win La Undécima (the eleventh UCL trophy). This Saturday we will try to surpass Mou's and Muñoz's record, and we will try to do so with the dynamic style we've shown recently. But Malaga will not be easy, they will make us work for it, Arbeloa added.
