According to reports, Bayern's captain had to be carried out in a golf cart. Lahm will have to undergo surgery on his right ankle this week.

Bayern Munich revealed through their Twitter feed that captain Philipp Lahm suffered a serious injury to his right ankle, which will prevent him from participating in any match for the next three months.

Lahm's injury comes during complicated times for his team, adding his name to an injury list that includes players such as Javi Martinez, Pepe Reina, Holger Badstuber, Claudio Pizarro, David Alaba and Thiago Alcantara.

Reports indicate the player was taking part of Bayern's training session and suddenly fell to the ground, staying on the pitch for about two minutes before being carried off the pitch in a golf cart. The player will have to undergo surgery this week to correct the damage.

Lahm, who recently retired from his international duties with Germany, was proving to be quite useful for Guardiola's crew this year, having participated in every match for his club, scoring twice and providing leadership inside the pitch.

Bayern will face Hoffenheim this weekend and will have to adapt their scheme to Lahm's absence during next week's Champions League match against Manchester City.
