The Spanish midfielder is conscious that his club must improve their recent performances if they want to catch up with Real Madrid

Spanish midfielder Xavi Hernandez denied he's been planning to leave Barcelona during the upcoming transfer season, even though he has not been starting regularly for Luis Enrique's team.

"Please don't go there, I'm staying. I'm not leaving until my contract is up, and when that happens I'll see what's next. Some players that left the club have told me you end up missing it. I still feel useful and important for the team, and Luis Enrique is happy with what I can give to the team," Hernandez said during a press conference.

Hernandez also analyzed Barcelona's season so far, stating they were not happy with their performance last Saturday against Almería.

"We were not able to perform the way we are used to. This team's got a lot of margin for improvement, and we are humble enough to recognize when we are not playing like we did before. I believe everyone in the squad believes this. We have to get better, doing OK is not enough," Xavi assured.

The player who recently retired from the Spanish National Team, stated the squad is fully committed with coach Luis Enrique, "a very smart man who's very clear about what he wants".
