The Uruguayan and French striker came extremely close to sharing a romantic moment on the pitch in Sunday's Le Classique tie

Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani probably did not expect to come close to sharing a romantic moment with Andre-Pierre Gignac when Marseille came rolling in at the Parc des Princes.

The Ligue 1 giants clashed in the Sunday's heated Le Classique encounter, as the defending French champions looked to gain ground on Marcelo Bielsa's side, who sit at the top of the table with 28 points.

The two aforementioned attackers headlined their team's attack, but it was the former Napoli star who enjoyed a wonderful night, making it on the score sheet, alongside Brazilian ace Lucas Moura, as Laurent Blanc's men ran out 2-0 winners to slash Marseille's lead to a single point.

Scoring an 85th minute header past Steve Mandanda, there was an incident involving the 27-year-old Uruguayan that he probably would prefer to forget.

Cavani found himself flat on the floor after getting tangled up with Gignac in fight for the ball. Getting up angry, Edinson later squared off with the Frenchman, but was so close in his face, their lips appeared to come in contact, before the Uruguayan walked away with a rather embarrassed expression.
