In fact, his record, with 17 attempts and 17 successes, is higher than La Liga star duo Lionel Messi's impressive 88.9% (32 out of 36) and Cristiano Ronaldo's excellent 91.2% (52 out of 57). The only other player in the Premier League who enjoyed a perfect record was Everton's Leighton Baines until his streak was broken by Manchester United's David De Gea.
Still, of course, it's important to note that both Messi and CR7 have taken significantly more spot-kicks than the 23-year-old.

Given his usual reliability from the spot, coupled with the fact that Chelsea would have wrapped up all three points had he not missed, social media reacted.
