Milan will be hoping to win their third home game of this season as they welcome Palermo on matchday 10. After a high-flying start, the Rossoneri have stuttered somewhat by having to settle for draws with Fiorentina and Cagliari, and having dropped four points will be especially keen on earning all three against the Rosanero.
This need is further illustrated by a quick glance at the table that sees four teams--Lazio, Sampdoria, Udinese and Milan--all on 16 points, while the trio of Napoli, Inter, and Genoa just sit one behind with 15.
Meanwhile, Giuseppe Iachini's squad have found things difficult in their return to Italian football's top flight. They only won their second game during the midweek fixture against Chievo thanks to a goal from Luca Rigoni who will miss out due to suspension. However, draws against the likes of Inter and Napoli, both in which they scored, have shown that they can put up a decent fight.
Additionally, they just might be feeling a spot of confidence coming into this game as the slim win over the Flying Donkeys was the first time they have successfully kept a clean sheet all season.
Filippo Inzaghi's men will still feel more pressure on them as not only are they playing in front of their own fans but also aspire to make a return to the Champions League next season. And some players will be feeling it more than others. Chelsea loanee Fernando Torres has already set the critics going due to his goal drought that has seen him score just once since arriving in Italy. Stephan El Shaarawy has still yet to grab his first Serie A goal after last season's personal nightmare.
The Diavolo currently enjoy the highest scoring attack in the league with 18 goals while Palermo's 17 conceded are nothing to be proud of. However, the Rossoneri have also looked suspect at the back and interestingly, have only one clean sheet to their name...against, coincidentally, Chievo.
Still, the odds are vastly in favor of the hosts: they have not only won 22 out of their 26 home meetings with the Rosanero but have won three out of their last four Serie A meetings (with one ending in a draw).
