The Asturian coach denied Lionel Messi was not fit to play and had painkilling shots for last Saturday's match

Following their loss against Real Madrid on Saturday, things have taken a controversial turn with Barcelona. Coach Luis Enrique had a heated press conference regarding several subjects, which included his responsability on losing Saturday's game, as well as some issues with his players.

"I'm the one to blame. My players are committed with what we are trying to do here, and if you want to hold someone responsible, that's me. I understand how things work around here, but not everything is wrong. We are tied in the first place and we have played only nine games. You'll have to judge us later," the coach said.

Regarding Lionel Messi's situation, the Asturian coach denied Barcelona's number ten had painkillers to play on Saturday.

"Every medical matter should be addressed delicately. You have to ask the player, not me. I have always told my players not to risk themselves, but if they choose to do so, it's up to them. As far as I'm concerned, Messi was fully fit to play," Luis Enrique added.

Finally, Barcelona's manager had words for his player Jeremy Mathieu, who said he was surprised to play as a left back rather than a center back.

"Well, he should be surprised if he played in Neymar's position or somewhere else on the pitch. He is fit to play both as a center back or as a left back. If he is surprised by that, then we'll have to shut that possibility. I would rather have the player telling me this instead of you," Martinez ended.
