The Colombian midfielder left Real Madrid to take part of his National Team's friendly matches against El Salvador and Canada.

After a dubious start with Real Madrid, Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez is beginning to show his class with Los Blancos. Before leaving Spain to join Colombia's National Team for their friendly matches this week, Rodriguez spoke about the comparisons with Angel Di Maria, who was transferred to Manchester United:

"People that support Real Madrid really love Angel Di Maria. I am aware he made history here, and he was key to many of the team's accomplishments. I respect him deeply, and I want to make my own history, just like he did before," Rodriguez stated.

James also spoke about how challenging it has been playing for Real Madrid, especially since he is not used to perform some tasks on the pitch:

"Mister Ancelotti wants me to put some defensive efforts, run around the pitch and so on. I'm not used to do that, but I'm up for it. I will do whatever he requests from me, because I'm happy to be here and I want to help in any way I can," the Colombian added.

Following their win against Athletic Bilbao, Rodriguez gave some insights about his teammates and how he believes Real Madrid can keep improving:

"We have killer players upfront, so we just have to focus on doing a good job in our backfield. Once we manage it, we can get much better. Yesterday against Bilbao was just a sample, we did a perfect job and we will try to keep it up," James concluded.
