The swiss executive will only have one opponent in this election. If he succeeds, he will have been heading FIFA for 21 years.

Weeks after expressing his intention of running for another term as FIFA's top man, Joseph Blatter stated today he will be presenting his candidacy to rule football for the next four years. Blatter respected the proper dates to make the announcement, and explained why he will try to head football one more time:

"I have accepted requests from several football federations to present my candidacy for a fifth period. I will inform the Executive Committee about this. I consider it to be a matter of respect to the great football family. It's my way to tell them  'Yes, I will be ready. I will run for office again," Blatter said.

Blatter's bid comes during tempestuous times for FIFA, involving investigations of corruption among those who elected the host countries for World Cups 2018 and 2022. Blatter himself has been doubted to be free of charge, but for now, those are mere speculations.

The other candidate for FIFA's top seat is the former French diplomat Jerome Champagne, who stated before he knew it is highly unlikely for him to beat Blatter, but he will try to convince football federations all around the world that it's time to make a change.

The election will be held on May 29,2015, during FIFA's annual Congress. If any other candidates wish to present their candidacy, they can do so until January 29, 2015.
