This is the first time the campaign will focus on men, since for the last seven years the focus was to prevent breast cancer.

For the eighth year in a row, the Mexican Football Federation (FEMEXFUT) launched its cancer awareness campaign. The main shift from the last seven years is that, for the first time, this campaign will create awareness among male fans. Liga MX's President Decio de Maria

"We feel very proud to announce that for the eighth year in a row, we will have a cancer awareness campaign. We will work together with Health Officers from our country to perform tests on both women and men that attend our games. We are aware breast and prostate cancer can be prevented, and we couldn't think of a better way to make our fans aware of that than giving them the chance to be tested while they watch their favorite sport. It's a public service we are truly happy to perform," De Maria stated.

Such as other leagues around the world do, Liga MX will have their referees and team captains wear distinctive patches and clothes to push forward this campain:

"We will play for the next month with a pink matchball, and for the first time, a pink and blue matchball, creating awareness in both our men and women audiences. We feel it's the best way to create a culture of self exploration, and we want our fans to know we want to encourage them to do so," Di Maria explained.

Other teams such as Atlas have announced that they will have a pink jersey to support this campaign.
