The Argentinian player told reporters how he felt the game should have ended, given the circumstances before he left the pitch:
"We were doing a fine job, playing like we were supposed to, but then, a very unfortunate play came along and I had to leave the pitch. The referee never told me if he was sending me off because of the foul or because of the argument we had later," Zabaleta explained. "I feel a little frustrated, because I think that we were in a good position to win if I wasn't sent off. In the end, with the standings as they are, earning one point wasn't that bad for us."
Using his Twitter feed, the player questioned the referee's judgement on the play that got him off the pitch:
However after seeing this image I can't believe that Diego Costa remained on the pitch. pic.twitter.com/WwjyG9CXzx
