The Spanish attacker has signed a one-year loan deal that will allow the club to purchase him next summer.

After some moments where the deal looked like it could fall through, Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo finally secured a switch to Valencia.

The Spanish side have acquired the services of the 29-year-old in a season long loan deal, with an option to fully purchase him in the summer of 2015 for a reported £23.7 million.

A statement on the club's website read:

"Valencia Club de Fútbol have reached an agreement with Manchester City Football Club for the acquisition of Spanish international Álvaro Negredo, on a loan deal with an obligatory purchase clause."

Despite initially having a great start to his career with the Premier League winners, Negredo's form took a sharp nosedive during the second half of his debut season where he was unable to find the back of the net.

Initial reports had indicated that City, who were keen on Monaco's Falcao were hoping to use Negredo as a make-weight in order to bring in the Colombian, only to see themselves beaten out by cross-town rivals Manchester United.

However, it proved to be of little consequence as the Madrid-born player will be back playing football in his native country.
