The local stadium was damaged by two blasts as tension rises between national forces and pro-Russian separatists.

Ukrainian champions Shakthar Donetsk informed via Twitter about the damage suffered by their stadium, Donbass Arena, just this morning. The team has left the city due to the ongoing conflict and is now based in the city of Liyv, located in the Western side of the country.

The stadium opened in 2009, and has hosted several UEFA Champions League matches, along with several Euro 2012 fixtures, which included the semi-final featuring Portugal and Spain.

Shakthar’s home suffered damages to the façade and on its communication equipment. No stadium personnel were harmed during the strike.

The club is the current Ukrainian Premier League Champion, and is set to participate in the upcoming UEFA Champions League.
