Defending league champion Manchester United finally broke out in their most recent match a 5-0 win on the road over Wigan Athletic. Off-season acquisition Michael Owen scored his first goal for the club while Wayne Rooney scored goal number 100 and 101 as a member of Manchester United. The Red Devils started the season with a 1-0 win over Birmingham City and followed that up with a shocking 1-0 loss at Turf Moor versus Burnley. Arsenal have blazed off the line this season with a total of ten goals in a pair of wins to start the campaign.

If Manchester United’s start to the season has raised a few eyebrows among media and fans Liverpool’s opening three matches have left some mouths agape. The Reds, picked by many to knock Man United off their Premier League throne this season, have stumbled out of the gate with two losses in their first three matches. The most recent setback, a 3-1 loss to Aston Villa, occurred this week in front of home field fans at Anfield.

Chelsea sit tied with surprising Tottenham Hotspur atop the Premier League table each with three wins in their opening three matches.

Manchester City has also been perfect so far this season with 1-0 and 2-0 results over Blackburn and Wolverhampton respectively. Portsmouth, Man City’s opponent this week, has lost their opening three matches being outscored 7-1 in the process.
