The little Chelsea horse of last season has matured into a robust beast ahead of the 2014/15 EPL campaign, with enough stamina to conquer England, Jose Mourinho believes.

The Special One is never one to shy away from cameras. He either boldly turns his back on the press or express himself bluntly. On Friday, he addressed himself to the media during a press conference. Buoyed by the Blues’ summer transfer plans, Mourinho declared that his team has what it takes to step their game after failing to clinch a major trophy this year:

“This season obviously we bought some key players, we believe and we are feeling that the new players have brought the squad and team into another dimension.

“Yes we are title contenders,” he avowed before acknowledging the strength of Chelsea’s league rivals by stating:

“If you expect me to say we will win the Premier League, I can’t say that. I can’t because I have to respect the competition, which is the only one that has more than two title contenders.

“I have to respect the opponents and efforts the other teams made to improve their already top teams, but we all feel we are title contenders.”

Jose Mourinho concluded on a rather happy note:

“To be back to the real competition is a fantastic feeling. I never hide the fact I like real competition and to be so long without a proper match creates a feeling.

“Because of so many years and so many experiences I’m not saying I’m nervous or I feel something special, I just feel happiness to be back in competition. Today I was in this room speaking about it with the players because they have exactly the same feeling.”

Chelsea will kick off their 2014/15 English Premier League title challenge with a match away to Burnley on Monday, August 18th.
