Manchester City kick off their International Champions Cup tournament against Milan, who were defeated in their own opening match earlier this week.

One side will be coming into this match full of confidence whereas the other will proabably be feeling a bit bruised and battered. For Manchester City, who have won their last two friendlies by score-lines of 2-1 and a more comfortable 4-1 result against MLS side Sporting Kansas City, the Premier League champions will be hoping to keep up this good run of form in their first match during this year's International Champions Cup.

Milan, on the other hand, suffered a loss to Greek side Olympiakos in their first ICC game, something that will certainly not be encouraging for the team's supporters and reportedly has already increased the pressure on new coach Pippo Inzaghi. After all, their prior two wins did come against lower-league Italian opponents and so this game will represent an opportunity to try to get things right. Naturally, that will be easier said than done as City represents a much tougher task than Olympiakos.

Manuel Pellegrini has opted to play things safe regarding his personnel, with players like Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, and Martin Demichelis still on their post-World Cup holidays. More concerning is the injuries sustained by Samir Nasri and Alvaro Negredo, with the Spaniard being ruled out for the long-term due to a broken foot.

However, given their status as the clear favorites to handle the Rossoneri, he may opt to field a similar line-up that he did in their victory over the MLS side, which included a good mix of youth and more established players.

As for Inzaghi, it will be interesting to see if Mario Balotelli will take the field against the side that he played for before moving back to Italy, as the former Rossoneri striker opted to leave him on the bench for the entire 90+ minutes.

Moreover, he blamed a lack of training for his team's loss due to travel from Italy to New York, so it remains to be seen whether a couple of days extra rest and practice will help them get the ball rolling against their toughest summer opponent to date.
