For those fans who follow Cristiano Ronaldo's career, they know very well that the Portuguese captain came from nearly nothing. His parents did not have much money, so he was taught to make do with what ever he had at his disposal.
At the age of 29, the native of Madeira has earned himself enough money to take care of his family. Living a much more comfortable lifestyle now, Cristiano's mother has found herself in the media more often than not. She has also had some comments and media encounters in the past that have raised some eyebrows, but nothing like her latest run-in with journalists.
Dolores Aveiro launched her book "Mother Courage" earlier this week, and it was there that she made a shocking revelation about her son Cristiano.
"I wanted to abort but the doctor didn't support my decision," Aveiro admitted in her book. She also went on to tell reporters that she would run constantly and drink warm ale in an attempt to abort the pregnancy using a home remedy, which was obviously unsuccessful.
Aveiro also revelead that her son is aware of this story, and that they are both able to joke around about it.
"He told me when he found out, look mum, you wanted to abort and now I'm the one who's pulling the purse-strings in the house," she added.
This revelation comes at a time when Cristiano has been recognized as the second most popular person on social media. Having seen what her son has achieved over the years, Dolores Aveiro must constantly count her blessings that her attempted abortion was unsuccessful.
