Chelsea kick start their preparations for the 2014-15 season with a trip to Buckinghamshire where they face Wycombe Wanderers in their first pre-season friendly match.

Mourinho’s men will be looking for a more productive season after failing to land any trophy last time around. The club has signed two very potent players in Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas however the Spanish duo might not be able to play any part during Wednesday’s fixture.

There however will be chance for young talents to prove their worth including young Kurt Zouma who spent the second half of last season at French club St. Etienne on loan. The 19 year old is highly regarded as one of the finest talents in the world of football and with David Luiz departing for the riches of PSG it will be interesting to see if Zouma gets any first team opportunities this time around.

Like Zouma, Dutch star Marco van Ginkel will also be excited to show just what a wonderful talent he is. The youngster was signed from Vitesse last season after an impressive campaign which saw him scoring eight goals and registering 10 assists in 33 Eredivisie appearances. Unfortunately his appearances in a Chelsea shirt were cut short after he suffered a horrific injury in September last year which resulted in him missing the rest of the season.

With competition for the number one spot growing fierce, Mark Schwarzer is another player who will be hoping to prove his worth. With Thibaut Courtois expected to return to the club after a three year loan spell at Atletico Madrid and Petr Cech still at the club it remains to be seen what role Schwarzer will be playing next season.

The Australian is however delighted at signing a one year contract at the club. He relishes the experiences he has already enjoyed at the Stamford Bridge and is hopeful the Blues can win some silverware next season.

“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract,’ said Schwarzer.

“I obviously wanted to stay at Chelsea. I really enjoyed my time here last season and it ticked a lot of boxes with some personal achievements along the way. All that was missing was winning a major trophy.”

“However I had some fantastic experiences – new experiences – and to be able to say that at 41 is pretty nice. To have the opportunity to train with and play with some world-class players, and to work with the manager who has been brilliant: it was an easy decision to re-sign here.”

The 41 year old enjoyed a much needed extended break and is now excited for the new season to start.

"It’s my first time in probably 15 years when I’ve actually had the whole summer off," said Schwarzer.

"I’ve been able to go away and recharge the batteries, and enjoy some time off with the family. It’s been nice to come back after a period of time off and get back in the swing of things.”

Wednesday’s encounter will be a special day for Wycombe Wanderers’ midfielder Matt Bloomfield with the encounter against Chelsea serving as the 30 year olds testimonial. Bloomfield is celebrating 10 and half years at the club and recalls memories of the last time he faced the Blues.

"I've got great memories of playing against them seven years ago. It's going to be a fantastic night. It's great for our club to be hosting Chelsea. It's not very often they come to Wycombe," he said.

The Chairboys managed a 1-1 draw against their counterparts that time around in the first leg of the 2006-07 League Cup semi-final and will be hoping to produce a better result this time.
