After only 8 months, Roberto Mancini leaves Galatasaray consensually with the President of the Turkish club

Yesterday, what seemed a mutually satisfactory relationship between Roberto Mancini and Galatasaray, ended abruptly when former Manchester City manager released some official statements, including a warm ‘arrivederci’ to the Turkish club.

In fact, according to the Italian coach, the parties consensually agreed to rescind the contract, that would have bound the manager to Galatasaray until 2016. Mancini stated:

“I decided to end my experience at Galatasaray […] When I accepted the job, we had different objectives. In these 8 months, coming during a partially compromised season, I constantly sought victory pushed by my passion, which lead to a qualification to the Champions League, the Turkish Cup and a second place in the league.”

Mancini was extremely successful during the brief spell in Istanbul

Former Internazionale manager, who replaced Fatih Terim, managed to lead the Turkish club to the eighth-finals in the Champions League, beating Seria A giants Juventus. Mancini then concluded:

“I am saddened to leave Istanbul and its fans, both splendid. I’d like to say goodbye to the President, the team, and the staff who all worked with talent and loyalty.”
