After losing to Bosnia, the Ivory Coast will hope to win their last friendly match before heading to Brazil.

October 21, 2013. That represents the last time the Ivory Coast won a game, a 3-1 victory against Senegal during their World Cup qualifying match. Since then, les Éléphants have drawn two and most recently, lost their friendly against debutants Bosnia on Friday evening in St. Louis, something that obviously will of great concern to coach Sabri Lamouchi.

For 36-year-old captain Didier Drogba, the upcoming tournament in Brazil is certainly the last World Cup for the highly decorated striker, who includes being his nation's all-time top scorer among his numerous accolades. Their last two appearances ended in disappointment for the West African nation, but they might be feeling a bit more confident after talismanic striker Radamel Falcao was left out of Colombia's 23-man squad.

However, until then, their focus will be on kick-starting their campaign, which will begin with a meeting with Japan in less than a fornight from now. And while over 40 points separate 21st placed Ivory Coast from El Salvador, who rest in 69th, Drogba and his teammates will obviously have to take this match seriously as it represents the last chance to get things going before facing off against Keisuke Honda & Co. on June 14th.

The Ivory Coast have failed to win any of their recent friendlies prior to facing off against El Salvador

As for El Salvador, the last time they made an appearance in the World Cup was back in 1982, and they were unable to progress past the group stages. Since then, they have failed to make any inroads on the international level save for the CONCACAF Championships, where they have reached the quarter-finals four times. In fact, they have unfortunately  become better known for match-fixing scandals, in particular one in September 2014 that saw numerous players handed lifetime bans from the sport.

In light of their loss, which featured a number of the team's second-string players, Lamouchi admitted that he would utilize a much stronger line up this time, stating to reporters:

"We were able to give playing time to some players but it is frustrating to end [the game with a] defeat. [However], the next test match against El Salvador will be an opportunity to see the group that is closer to the one that will play against Japan."

Manchester City's Yaya Toure, who missed out in the earlier friendly, but his brother Kolo is still out due to malaria. In addition, there's Roma's Gervinho, may be recovered well enough to make an appearance. And talismanic attacker Drogba, who came off the bench to score his side's only goal against the Bosnians, is likely to feature from the outset as they wrap up preparations before heading to Brazil.
