Real Salt Lake vs Los Angeles Galaxy Match Preview
Real Salt Lake will battle the Los Angeles Galaxy at Rio Tinto Stadium with both teams having got their seasons off to a promising start.
Salt Lake opened with a 1-0 win at the San Jose Earthquakes, while LA won 1-0 in Seattle before battling the New England Revolution to a 1-1 tie.
Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis has defensive worries as goalkeeper Nick Rimando and center back Jamison Olave are both questionable with injury. Will Johnson, Alvaro Saborio and Arturo Alvarez will all be missing as they are away on international duty.
The Galaxy will be without superstar Landon Donovan who is away playing for the USA national team. Goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts remains questionable with a hamstring strain. Defender Gregg Berhalter is doubtful with a knee problem, while Omar Gonzalez will shake off a shoulder injury in time to play.
In the absence of Donovan, former England midfielder David Beckham will wear the captain’s armband for the Galaxy in Utah. “I’ll be proud to wear it,” Beckham told BBC Sport this week.
