Columbus Crew vs New York Red Bulls Match Preview
The Columbus Crew will play their home opener on Saturday against the New York Red Bulls at Crew Stadium.
The Crew will be looking to bounce back from their season opening 3-1 defeat at D.C. United last weekend, while the Red Bulls will be looking to build upon their season opening 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders.
Danny O’Rourke and Shaun Francis will be sidelined for Columbus due to knee and hamstring injuries respectively. Emilio Renteria is questionable with a hamstring strain, while Jeff Cunningham is likely to continue in the Crew attack.
New York will travel to Columbus with a number of personnel issues. Goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul is away playing for Senegal while central defensive pair Tim Ream and Rafael Marquez are away with the USA and Mexico national teams. Defender Chris Albright is also sidelined due to a knee problem.
Jamaican winger Dane Richards is away on international duty while New York also have problems in the striking department. Last weekend’s game winner Juan Agudelo is away playing for the USA, while Thierry Henry is questionable due to a hamstring strain.
