KIRO-FM or KIRO Radio 97.3 FM—as it is branded—is an American HD radio station in Washington, USA. Its content is tailored to users in the cities of Seattle and Tacoma. It is affiliated to CBS Radio News and owned by media and broadcasting company Bonneville International. Its sister radio stations under the same ownership include 710 ESPN Seattle (KIRO-AM) and 770 KTTH.
KIRO-FM was first launched in October 1948 as KTNT-FM. It then got renamed to KNBQ in 1976, before changing again to KBSG-FM in 1988. Popular podcasts that have featured on KIRO Radio 97.3 FM over the years include KIRO Nights, The Dori Monson Show, The Gee and Ursula Show, The Pete Carroll Show and Your Last Meal with Rachel Belle. KIRO Radio 97.3 FM has been a local broadcast partner for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL) for many years. In addition to airing pregame and postgame shows, the station also offered play-by-play commentary. Soccer fans have additionally been able to enjoy coverage of Seattle Sounders FC matches in the Major League Soccer (MLS), in the past.
