Barcelona have not won a single game at the World Football Challenge ahead of August 14 and August 17’s Supercopa de España matches against Real Madrid.
The 2011 European champions have one more match to play against Club America on August 6, in the United States. But their previous 2 encounters have put them in an awkward position against the media.

Barcelona lost the re-match of the 2011 Wembley final against Manchester United late last month as Nani and Owen’s goals canceled the importance of Thiago Alcantara’s stunning volley. On Wednesday night, the Catalans got defeated by their biggest margin in all competitions and games since Getafe trounced them 4-0 in the Copa del Rey 4 years ago.

Despite David Villa’s 4th minute opener, a Fabian-inspired Guadalajara side banged in 4 second half goals to defeat Barcelona 4-1 at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami. But the Blaugrana’s fans prefer to remain optimistic, just like the unfazed Pep Guardiola who told the press afterward:

“We are a bit behind on schedule for several reasons. However, I have a lot of confidence in these players and I know we'll play better in the league and the other competitions.

“The Spanish Supercopa and European Super Cup are pretty close. But we will improve in the upcoming weeks. The mentality of the players will make the difference. We need a bit more time. I know that there's not much more time left, but we'll be ready.

“We have to forget about this result and shift our focus to the upcoming games. This loss won't change anything for us.”

As if their new shirts had no luck or as if Lionel Messi’s absence had too much impact, Barcelona have showed a poor form this pre-season. What kind of performance and result will the Catalans produce against Real Madrid in the 2011 Supercopa de España?

Real Madrid have been in great shape this summer with Angel di Maria and Cristiano Ronaldo gelling marvelously with new signings like Jose Maria Callejon and Fabio Coentrao. It’s no wonder some football fans and pundits are expecting a pretty close encounter between Barcelona and Real Madrid in the two-legged 2011 Supercopa de España tie with Los Blancos emerging on top in the end.
