Fondata nel 1963, la Bundesliga tedesca è uno dei principali campionati nazionali d'Europa. È organizzata dalla Federcalcio tedesca ed è conosciuta anche come “Fußball-Bundesliga” o “1. Bundesliga”.
Il campionato è composto da 18 squadre che si contendono il titolo. Il campionato tedesco è unico nel senso che prevede una pausa prolungata durante il periodo natalizio in cui la stagione si ferma per un periodo di 1 mese (5-6 settimane), principalmente a causa delle condizioni meteorologiche.
La competizione ospita una varietà di club di alto livello che si sono fatti un nome sia a livello nazionale che/o in Europa. Senza dubbio, il Bayern Monaco è la squadra tedesca più riconoscibile, insieme ad altre squadre degne di nota sono Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04, Bayer Leverkusen ed Eintracht Francoforte.
