The Rossoneri are through to the quarter-finals for the first time in over a decade, and achieved multiple milestones as they await their next opponent.

On Wednesday evening, AC Milan traveled to London to face Tottenham for part two of their round of 16 Champions League tie. The Rossoneri, thanks to a solitary goal from Brahim Diaz, had secured a narrow 1-0 win at the Stadio San Siro in the first leg and as such, merely needed a draw to progress to the quarter-finals.

While Stefano Pioli's side did hold a slight advantage, there were some stats that did not tip the tie in their favor. For starters, Milan had historically struggled in England, with just one win from their last 21 matches, while losing 13 of those ties. Current Tottenham boss Antonio Conte also had a solid track record against Milan, with five wins from his last six home games across all competitions when it came to facing the Diavolo.

That being said, Milan came into Wednesday's contest 1-0 up, and to date, had only failed to progress in three of their last 21 knockout games when they had won the first leg.

As such, hopes were high among Rossoneri fans that the team, who were in the round of 16 for the first time since the 2013/2014 season, would successfully secure passage to the quarter-finals for the first time since the 2011/2012 edition of this tournament.

Well, Milan achieved just that, and in doing so, set several notable milestones in the process:

They have also avoided defeat to an English side on English soil for the first time in over 18 years. The last time Milan achieved this was in February 2005, when they beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford. 

And it turned out that a 0-0 draw against Conte's side was enough to get the job done. It wasn't the most entertaining match, but all that matters for Milan supporters is that their team are through to the next stage, and will be looking forward to the challenges that await them in the quarter-finals - and perhaps beyond.
