Although the Bundesliga title race is now done and dusted, with Bayern making it an unprecedented ninth straight title, there is still plenty to play for.
Bayern will take on Freiburg this Saturday in their penultimate match, and as luck would have it, it's possible that two new records could be set as die Roten travel for what's also Hansi Flick's final away Bundesliga tie.
The first of these two records is the most goals scored in a single Bundesliga season. That record is currently held by Bayern icon Gerd Muller. Nicknamed der Bomber, his feat of 40 goals from the 1971/1972 campaign has stood for nearly 50 years, but one player looks set to finally end his claim to that achievement.
Robert Lewandowski came close last term, but suspension and injury denied him. This time around, despite suffering a knee injury, he's come roaring back, and with his hat-trick against Gladbach as Bayern cruised to a 6-0 win, he's on 39 goals for the season.
The 32-year-old Polish star needs just one goal to match Muller's record, and two more to break it. With two games remaining, it's pretty much a sure bet he'll achieve just that without much fuss.
As for the second record, it's also set by a former Bayern player: Oliver Kahn. The legendary shot-stopper earned the most clean sheets in Bundesliga history over the course of his career, which is 204 in 557 appearances.
That has since been matched by Manuel Neuer, who earned his 204th clean sheet during the 6-0 win over Gladbach. Neuer, meanwhile, has reached this number in shorter time than Kahn, as it took him 436 games to get there.
Should Neuer manage to earn a shut-out in this upcoming match, it'll be 205 for the two-time Champions League winner, thus topping Kahn's record. Even if he doesn't, and has to wait till Bayern's last game, it'll still beat Kahn's achievement.
But it's possible both records could fall on Saturday, if Lewandowski bags at least a brace and Neuer keeps a clean sheet!
