FC Twente were humiliated at sc Heerenveen on Sunday (6-2) and thus did not manage to grab the league lead after league leaders PSV drew away at De Graafschap on Saturday: 0-0.
SC Heerenveen trashed FC Twente 6-2 on Sunday. “Very disappointing”, Michel Preud’homme said. “Usually our defense is well-organized even when we play an all out attacking game, but today everything fell apart. The team I saw did not even look like the Twente I know.” Twente could have taken the Eredivisie lead if because PSV drew 0-0 against De Graafschap on Saturday, but instead they dropped back a point.

PSV were not able score away at De Graafschap on Saturday. After an Orlando Engelaar red card in the 35th minute the home team had the better chances but they did not manage to score. Eventually both teams ended the match with ten men when Yuri Rose received his second yellow card in the 79th minute.

Ajax looked rejuvenated on Sunday. “In the first half we played the way I want to see us play, we want to see us play here at Ajax”, Frank de Boer said after the 1-0 win at Vitesse at his Eredivisie debut as head coach of Ajax. Although only one goal separated the two clubs Ajax dominated most of the match only to water down in the second half.

Jan van Dijk celebrated his birthday with an surprise point at Hercales on Friday. The VVV coach turned 54 on the day his team grabbed their 10th point of the season with a 2-2 draw at Heracles. Nigerian Michael Uchebo scored the equalizer in the 92nd minute.

Hercales started well, but they forgot to convert their domination into goals. At the end of the first half the home team seemed to settle things however. Everton (37') and Samuel Armenteros (42’) scored and Hercales took a comfortable lead into the half time break.

In the second half Hercales had a handful of good opportunities again, but an unexpected Ruud Boymans goal turned things around. An inspired VVV fought back and were rewarded for a good display in the last half hour when Uchebo handed his team a point with his late goal.

NAC improved on their already impressive home record when they defeated FC Utrecht 3-1 on Saturday, winning their eighth of ten home matches this season. The Brabanders only took one point in away matches, but their supremacy at home got them in the top half of the table after 17 matches.

John Karelse en Gert Aandewiel started with the same lineup which defeated PSV 4-2 two weeks ago, but Utrecht took the initiative. Michael Silberbauer scored the opener for the visitors in the ninth minute. Three minutes later Csaba Fehér already equalized and the Utrecht power slowly faded away. “We played good for half an hour and then we were finished”, coach Ton du Chatinier said.

NAC were the better team in the second half. When a Matthew Amoah header went in after a deflection from Alje Schut, the match was over. It marked the fourth own goal by the unlucky Utrecht defender. Kees Luijckx added the 3-1 in the 67th minute.

Before the match Harm van Veldhoven and John van den Brom agreed upon the fact that Roda and ADO were pretty even and after the match both coaches agreed that the match between their teams had not been very exciting, which led to a poor 1-1 draw.

“We had the better chances, but we really did not deserve more than the point we got”, Van den Brom said. “There’s not much more to say to it than a 1-1 draw”, Van Veldhoven added. The Roda coach did however regretted the quick equalizer after his team got an early lead thanks to a Wuillem Janssen goal in the ninth minute. “That was pretty sloppy”, Van Veldhoven said.

Dmitri Bulykin headed home the 1-1 from a Charlton Vicento corner in the 13th minute. The Russian striker scored his 11th goal of the season.

Willem II equaled their record streak matches without a win in the Eredivisie when they lost 3-1 at NEC on Saturday. The last win of the tricolores came on 14 March 2010 against Sparta (3-1) and from then on they were winless for 25 matches in a row. It was Willem II’s 14th loss this season.

In De Goffert Willem II, who played without injured captian Evgeny Levchenko, again were not able to live up to the level of the Dutch top flight and Eredivisie top scorer Björn Vleminckx scored 1-0 in the 13th minute. After the goal the home team did not push through and they gave Willem II a chance to come back into the match when Andreas Lasnik converted a spot kick in de 38th minute.

In the second half NEC geared up and Lasse Schöne (55’) hit the target with a long range shot and John Goossens scored the 3-1 in the 66th minute. NEC’s win marked the first time the Red-Black-Green brigade defeated Willem II twice in the same season.

De Graafschap lost their away match in Eindhoven 6-0 earlier this season. One of the main causes was an early Purrel Fränkel red card. In the return on Saturday PSV’s Orlando Engelaar received a red card in the 35th minute and De Graafschap took advantage. The twelfth ranked ‘Superboeren’ held the League Leaders to a 0-0 draw.

After Engelaar’s red card PSV only played for the draw, thus annoying the fans who travelled with them to Doetinchem. In the second half De Graafschap had some good chances to score, but substitute Hugo Bargas shot wide and Rydell Poepon could not get passed Andreas Isaksson.

When Yuri Rose received his second yellow card in the 79th minute PSV yet tried to push De Graafschap back, but it was too little too late. The 0-0 marked De Graafschap’s first point against PSV since 5 May 2002, when they drew 2-2. The Superboeren lost their last four home matches against PSV.

“In the first half we played the way I want to see us play, we want to see us play here at Ajax”, Frank de Boer said after the 1-0 win at Vitesse at his Eredivisie debut as head coach of Ajax on Sunday. Although only one goal separated the two clubs Ajax dominated most of the match only to water down in the second half.

De Boer fielded the second youngest Ajax starting lineup of the season handing 19-year-old Lorenzo Ebecilio his Eredivisie debut. Former Ajax coach Martin Jol, who stepped down on Monday, said that he did not dispose of good attacking wingers but Ebecilio proved him wrong being a constant threat on the left wing.

Christian Eriksen scored from a Demy de Zeeuw assist in the 11th minute and Ajax could have wrapped the match up before halftime if amongst others De Zeeuw and Miralem Sulejmani had converted some good opportunities.

In the second half Vitesse tried to put pressure on Ajax and the visitors had difficulties to keep up their first half level of play. “That’s to be expected on a heavy pitch like this after our midweek trip to Milan”, De Boer said. The Ajax coach could not have wished for a better first week of his new job with the 1-0 victory at Vitesse and the 2-0 win at AC Milan on Wednesday.

FC Groningen strengthened their third spot on the table with a 2-0 win over number five AZ in the Euroborg Stadium on Sunday. The home team dominated the opening phase and the last ten minutes. In the mean time AZ were the better team without being able to execute when given a chance.

“We deserved to win this one”, AZ captain Stijn Schaars said. “At certain moments we really outplayed them in every aspect of the game.” In the 77th minute Groningen’s Tim Sparv was sent off with a red card. “At that moment we should have taken control, but strangely enough the opposite happened”, AZ coach Gertjan Verbeek said. Timn Matavz scored in the 11th and the 93rd minute. AZ also ended the match with ten men because of a Héctor Moreno red card in the 89th minute.

Some people started talking about a the League title in Groningen on Sunday, but Pieter Huistra chose to remain cautious. “I don’t want to think about that just yet, but if all the others keep dropping points easily, who knows?”

“It surely was not a great match to watch for the public”, Luc Castaignos said about the Rotterdam derby against Excelsior in ‘De Kuip’ on Sunday. The Feyenoord striker was match winner with the only goal in the 22nd minute. Feyenoord were not relieved after their early lead and the home team were hardly able to keep possession on the midfield, because Excelsior kept the pressure on.

In the second half Johnny van Beukering made his Feyenoord debut. The striker, who was without a club after this summer before Feyenoord signed him last week, did not seem to be fit enough yet. In the past he was nicknamed Johnny van de Burgerking because he was to heavy at NEC. At his Feyenoord debut a sprint for a one-to-one with the Excelsior goal keeper ended up in a hilarious scene with Van Beukering stumbling and losing the ball. “He was running against the wind”, Mario Been joked after the match. “We know that a thirty meter run is not Johnny’s key feature.”

Been was happy with the win but not with the game. “We were scared and nervous”, the Feyenoord coach said. Next week Feyenoord travels to Ajax for ‘De Klassieker’, the Dutch version of El Clásico. “It may be clear that we’ll start as the underdog in Amsterdam.”

SC Heerenveen trashed FC Twente 6-2 on Sunday. “Very disappointing”, Michel Preud’homme said. “Usually our defense is well-organized even when we play an all out attacking game, but today everything fell apart. The team I saw did not even look like the Twente I know.”

Oussama Assaidi was the big man with Heerenveen. The 22-year-old Moroccan born Dutchman scored a hat-trick and handed two assists as well. “The coach said I had to turn to the inside with their right back Roberto Rosales”, Aissaidi said. His first two goals (20‘, 32’) came after he tricked Rosales to turn inside for a shot on goal.

The title holders came back into the match twice thanks to Nacer Chadli (32’, 51’) goals and after their second goal they seemed to be capable of turning the match around. However in the 63rd minute Aissaidi was unstoppable again and Viktor Elm easily headed home the assist. It was the end for Twente and Luciano Narsingh (74'), Assaidi (87') and Mika Väyrynen (89’, penalty) added to the score for Heerenveen. Twente could have taken the Eredivisie lead if because PSV drew 0-0 against De Graafschap on Saturday, but instead they dropped back a point.
