La Liga table leaders Barca will attempt to continue their winning streak when they welcome Zinedine Zidane’s men at home this weekend. The European title holders have not lost a single league match since they went down 2-1 at Sevilla’s Estadio Ramon back on October 3, last year.
So far in 2016, the Catalans have won 12 out of 14 matches played under the leadership of manager Luis Enrique; their two other matches ended as away draws. An interesting fact to note nevertheless is that the treble winners have not been defeated on home soil in over a year.With their next test resting heavily on the shoulders of their key players – including the Messi, Suarez and Neymar trio – one wonders whether it is simply time for Cristiano Ronaldo and his mates to end their rivals’ supremacy at home.
Moreover, Barcelona were 4-0 winners at the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this season; a strong sense of revenge could very well serve as the perfect energizer for Real Madrid, who have yet to win five league games in a row this season. Success at the Camp Nou for the visitors will be enough for them to achieve that feat, though.

Barcelona currently sit at the top of the standings with 76 points coming from 24 victories, 4 draws and 2 losses. Real Madrid find themselves 10 points behind with 66 points, following their 20 wins, 6 draws and 4 defeats. Both teams are however separated by title contenders Atletico Madrid, who occupy the second place with just a single point above Los Blancos.
A look at the goal scoring chart
Ahead of Matchday 31, Madrid’s leading player Cristiano Ronaldo leads the chart with 28 goals. The Portuguese icon has been in devastating form in recent weeks, scoring 6 goals in his last 4 Liga matches, including an impressive 4-goal achievement against Celta Vigo on March 5.
He is followed by Barcelona’s Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, who has hit the target on 26 occasions in the Primera Division so far this season. Lionel Messi was absent for several weeks at the beginning of the season due to a knee injury, but he still comes third with 22 goals. Incidentally, all three star players – Ronaldo, Suarez and Messi – were on target for their respective countries during the March international break.
Neymar and Karim Benzema come fourth and fifth, with 21 and 20 goals respectively.
