Arsenal came into the match at Anfield seeking a statement victory that would cement their status as title favorites, but they were given a stern test by the hosts. The visitors started the game in imperious form, with Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus scoring two goals within the first 28 minutes of the match. Liverpool, on the other hand, struggled to cope with the Gunners' attacking prowess and looked set for a long afternoon.

Nevertheless, Mohamed Salah's strike three minutes before halftime sparked a comeback for Liverpool. The Reds continued to press forward in the second half, and they were awarded a penalty when Martin Odegaard fouled Sadio Mane in the box. But the charge to spark a remontada was quelled momentarily when Salah missed the spot-kick, which looked to have handed Arsenal the win.

Still, Liverpool refused to give up, and their persistence paid off in the 87th minute when Roberto Firmino headed home the equalizer, his 10th Premier League goal against the Gunners. It could have been a lot more better for Jurgen Clop as in the dying minutes of the game, they had two chances to snatch a late winner. However, Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale produced two magnificent saves to deny Salah and Ibrahima Konate in those instances.

The draw means that Arsenal remain six points clear at the top of the Premier League, but their lead could have been eight points if they had held on for the win. The result blows the title race wide open, with champions Manchester City lurking just behind Arsenal in the table.

The two sides will meet at the Etihad Stadium on April 26, in what could be a decisive game in the race for the Premier League title.
