Mike Magee settled the first leg when he collected David Beckham’s through ball and fired past Red Bulls goalkeeper Frank Rost.

The first leg was contested fiercely and ended in an ugly brawl that saw Galaxy midfielder Juninho, and Red Bulls defender Rafa Marquez receive red cards that mean they are suspended for this game.

The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2 at 11pm (Eastern Time) as the second half of a playoff double header.

The Houston Dynamo will be defending a 2-1 aggregate lead when they host the Philadelphia Union in an Eastern Conference semi-final second leg.

Union striker Sebastien Le Toux cancelled out Andre Hainault’s opener in the first leg, before Calen Carr scored the winning goal for Houston before half-time.

Tally Hall will start in goal for Houston and recorded 10 saves in the first leg, a figure only two short of the all-time MLS playoff record.

Sporting Kansas City will be defending a 2-0 aggregate lead when they play host to the Colorado Rapids in an Eastern Conference semi-final second leg.

Two second half goals by Teal Bunbury gave Colorado a first leg win, while Colorado had defender Tyrone Marshall sent off.

Sporting manager Peter Vermes was pleased with his team's first leg performance, but knows the job is only half done. “The game plan was good and the guys executed it very well. We’ve got to do that again (Wednesday),” Vermes told the official MLS website.

Daneil Cyrus and Luke Sassano are sidelined with injury for Kansas City, while first leg hero Bunbury is one yellow card away from a suspension.

Colorado striker Caleb Folan limped out of the first leg defeat and will miss out here, while Marshall is suspended after his sending off in Kansas City.

Conor Casey, Jamie Smith and Antony Wallace are sidelined with injury for Colorado, while Kosuke Kimura and Drew Moor are also ruled out.

Pablo Mastroeni is questionable due to a concussion and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.

Rapids head coach Gary Smith is aware his side have a difficult task on their hands, but is looking to adopt an attacking mentality at Livestrong Sporting Park. “There’s a little bit of life to it, and we’d certainly like to put them under a little bit of pressure and score nice and early down in Kansas,” Smith told the official MLS website.

The game will be nationally televised on Fox Soccer Channel at 8pm Eastern Time.

Real Salt Lake will be defending a 3-0 aggregate lead when they travel to face Seattle Sounders FC in a Western Conference semi-final second leg.

Two goals from Alvaro Saborio and a late Ned Grabavoy strike gave Salt Lake a convincing win at Rio Tinto Stadium, and leaves the Sounders with a huge task at CenturyLink Field.

Seattle head coach Sigi Schmid spoke to the official MLS website about the difficult task that faces his team. “We need to score four, it’s very simple. We can’t allow any goals,” said Schmid. “There’s no secret strategy, everybody has to play better soccer than they played, everyone has to put in a better performance (than in the first leg).”

Terry Boss and Michael Seamon are ruled out with injury for the Sounders, while Steve Zakuani and O’Brian White are also sidelined. Midfielder Mauro Rosales is questionable with a knee sprain and will be assessed head of kickoff.

Salt Lake could have to defend their lead without defensive pair Jamison Olave and Nat Borchers. The duo are injury doubts after limping out of the first leg victory, while Nelson Gonzalez is a definite absentee.

Tony Beltran and Ned Grabavoy are expected to shake off minor injuries in time to play for Salt Lake.

The match will be nationally televised on ESPN2 at 10pm Eastern Time.

Striker Cam Weaver is suffering with a hip injury for the Dynamo. First leg hero Carr is expected to be partnered in attack by veteran forward Brian Ching.

The Union will need to adopt an attacking approach due to their aggregate deficit, making Le Toux, Freddy Adu and Danny Mwanga key figures in this game.

“It may be good for this team to go into the second leg not feeling the pressure to defend a 1-1 tie or a 1-0 goal difference,” manager Peter Nowak told the official MLS website. “So it maybe is a good thing that the pressure is off right now and we have nothing to lose going into Houston.”

Thorne Holder and Levi Houapeu are sidelined with injury for Philadelphia, while Michael Farfan (foot) and Veljko Paunovic (hamstring) are listed as questionable.

The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2 at 8:30pm (Eastern Time) as the first half of a playoff double header.

Galaxy manager Bruce Arena will be pleased to have a one goal aggregate lead. “I give them credit; they came at us hard,” Arena said of the first leg. “(Thierry) Henry was a force all day. They have become a pretty direct team. And they are dangerous with Henry and (Luke) Rodgers up top – they just put us on our heels.”

Sean Alvarado and Leonardo are injury doubts for Los Angeles, while Juninho is suspended. David Beckham, Gregg Berhalter and Bryan Jordan are injury doubts for the Galaxy and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.
