Arsenal 2013-14 Season Review
Season Start: August 18, 2013
Season End: May 11, 2014
2012-13 proved to be yet another unsuccessful season for the Gunners. This saw them stumble to a ninth consecutive year without silverware. Despite the supporters' discontent at the lack of accomplishment, major satisfaction was gained due to over-taking Spurs in the run-in for a top four spot.
The transfer market has not been very productive so far for Arsene Wenger and his staff. With only one signing featuring the young Yaya Sanogo from French outfit Auxerre, the club has seen two bids of £30 and £40 million for the Liverpool Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez turned down whilst negotiations to bring in Argentine goal scorer Gonzalo Higuain never materialized. Many critics are unsure of Arsenal’s targets for this campaign. They are unlikely to win the Premier League with Manchester's top two clubs and Chelsea looking far stronger, whilst replacing the likes of Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas has been a tricky prospect.
Arsenal begin the season with a strong run-in despite their inability to perform in the first ten games of a season. The most appealing fixture in the first five round of matches this year features the North London derby at the Emirates alongside a host of early titanic fixtures. The month of March will be of particular interest to neutral supporters as the Gunners take on Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and then Manchester City, one game after the other.
