Chelsea will tempt Arsenal’s bond of unity in Saturday’s crunch lunch time kick-off. The Gunners will affront the Blues in a London derby.
Arsenal are actively working on the reconstruction of their broken fortress. Skipper Van Persie is on an explosive run, recent results are positive and Wenger remains passionate about the club he joined in 1996. Speaking at the club’s Annual General Meeting, the Frenchman was quoted as saying by the media on Thursday:

“I believe the values we defend are highly defendable. We want to do things with class and be very brave. Courage is a quality I admire, because it is highly needed in the modern world.

“I can see a lot of fear and discontent among you - and I can understand that because we live in a world where we fight with people who have extremely high resources.

“We can compete by trying to be intelligent and to be united, because football is very difficult to be consistent and we have been more consistent than anybody in the world in the last 15 years. To stay at the top, top level we have to stay united.

“That does not mean I’m not to be criticized, or the board - we accept that, but we have to show to the outside we are united. If you are not, then you have no chance.”

Arsenal aren’t looking like title contenders in the English Premier League this season. They seat outside the European zone, in seventh place precisely. With 4 defeats in their 9 matches so far, the Gunners’ mission to hit higher standards has become more serious.

But since losing to Tottenham Hotspur on the second day of the month of October, Arsenal have won the totality of their games in all competitions.

They bounced back with a 2-1 over Sunderland and a 3-1 triumph over Stoke City in the English Premier League. In the UEFA Champions League, they earned a dramatic 1-0 victory away to French giants Olympique Marseille and got back on track in their group. Earlier on Tuesday, the Gunners defeated Bolton Wanderers to maintain their Carling Cup hopes alive.

“Arsenal has all the elements that you need to have success in this kind of business,” declared shareholder Stan Kroenke this week according to the English press.

“The club has tremendous management at the top, a wonderful manager on the pitch who makes great decisions in regard to personnel and a tremendous following with the supporters,” he added.

Chief executive Ivan Gazidis, meanwhile, insisted that Arsenal “have a sound foundation to move forwards. Standing still has never been an option.” It’s good news for Wenger and the fans that Kroenke and Gazidis are firmly behind the progress of the club.

A clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is next on Arsenal’s agenda. The Gunners won’t enter this fixture as favorites. However, nothing is impossible and Arsene Wenger could use his experience against Chelsea’s young Andre Villas-Boas to prove to the public that Arsenal are strong.
