On Wednesday, there will be nothing more exciting in Portugal than the Porto vs Benfica cup match. The Estadio do Dragao will be put to flames and Coach Jorge Jesus is ready to take the heat.
A 5-0 trouncing is what Benfica suffered in their last visit to Porto but this doesn’t scare Jorge Jesus ahead of this week’s semi-final clash in the Portugal Cup. Record books recall that Benfica successfully trashed their rivals 3-0 in the final of the League Cup last year and this is the kind of positive results that the Eagles’ boss is eying to happen again.

Benfica have actually grown in confidence and power since their heavy 5-0 defeat to Porto. They’ve gone to build a 100% record in their last 13 domestic matches; and this includes last week’s 2-0 win against Rio Ave in the quarter-finals of the Portugal Cup.

“To think about improving match by match is the right way for a team to think,” Coach Jorge Jesus was quoted as saying by A Bola.

Commentating on the new two-legged system in the semi-finals of the Portugal Cup, the Benfica coach continued:

“Of course, the home team possesses an advantage in the first leg. But, the semi-final tie has been divided into 2 halves.”

Should anything unfortunate happen away to Porto, Benfica will have the opportunity of correcting mistakes in the return leg which will take place on April 20.
